Job description

About Charge:
Charge Robotics is a Series A startup building robots that build solar farms.
Demand for new solar projects is booming (1/5th of all the solar that exists in the US was installed last year!), but today's construction companies can't keep up due to limited labor resources.
We thought this was insane, so we started working on robots to directly address this bottleneck and speed up the world's transition to renewables.
Charge is a fast-moving company which means constant opportunities for learning and growth. You'll have a large impact on the direction of our company and our product, which will be reflected in significant equity compensation. And you get to work with giant robots .
If you are excited to work on interesting technical problems with direct climate impact, you're going to fit right in at Charge Robotics.
Read more about Charge in recent press:
  • Fast Company - Solar Building Robots to Solve One of Climate's Biggest Problems
  • Solar Industry Mag - Charge Completes First Robotics Deployment with Nation's Largest Solar EPC (SOLV Energy)
  • YouTube - full video of our Gen1 robots building a solar farm

Charge's funding:
We're MIT-founded and backed by top generalist and climate tech investors, including Lux Capital and Y Combinator (S21).
About the role:
As the Lead Recruiter at Charge Robotics and founding member of our people & talent function, you'll take critical ownership of recruiting, work with the team to create an excellent pipeline of candidates, and deliver a standout interview, hiring, and onboarding experience. You'll be substantially responsible for growing our passionate and amazing team as we work together to transform the solar industry.
What you will do:
  • Build our talent function and recruiting processes from scratch
  • Own the end-to-end recruitment lifecycle, from sourcing and screening to negotiating and closing
  • Be a strategic partner to hiring managers across the company, collaborating on candidate strategy and ensuring that hiring goals are met in a timely manner with top-tier candidates
  • Create a positive, seamless, and fair candidate experience
  • Initially lead employee onboarding until we can grow into a larger people function
  • Report to and collaborate closely with our founder/CEO
  • Be the face of Charge Robotics and help us build a stellar employer brand
You'll be successful in this role if you:
  • Are excited and motivated to personally play a role in mitigating climate change
  • Have 3-5+ years of experience doing full-cycle recruiting for technical roles
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Have superb negotiation and relationship management skills
  • Are detail-oriented with a ruthless ability to prioritize
  • Have a metrics-driven mindset, leveraging data to understand pipeline health and improve velocity, quality, retention
  • Believe in treating all people with dignity and respect, regardless of title or tenure
  • Are proficient in ATS and other HR technologies to support data-driven decision-making and process optimization. A few tools that we use: Ashby, LinkedIn Recruiter, Gusto
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, in-person startup environment
  • Are based in or can relocate to the SF Bay Area, and able to work ~4 days/week from our San Leandro HQ
It'd also be nice if you:
  • Are passionate about and knowledgeable of robotics
  • Have hired across software and hardware engineering roles
  • Have experience building out a people function for a small and rapidly growing team, incl. owning recruiting-adjacent processes like onboarding, brand-building, or HR
  • Are excited to see our robots deployed onto actual solar farms!
