About This Role


Cobalt Benefits Group is seeking a seasoned National Accounts Account Executive to serve as the strategic lead for our largest clients (1000+ covered lives). This executive-facing role demands the ability to build trusted partnerships at the C-suite level, deliver proactive consultative insights, and guide clients through complex benefit and operational strategies. The Account Executive works closely with the National Accounts - Account Manager, brokers, and internal leaders to ensure seamless service delivery while driving client retention, growth, and satisfaction.


Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary executive-facing contact for national account clients and their brokers.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior HR, finance, and benefits leaders.
  • Lead quarterly and/or annual plan performance meetings (determined per client), presenting plan performance metrics, claim trends, and strategic recommendations.
  • Represent Cobalt at executive-level client meetings, industry conferences, and client-sponsored events, as needed.
  • Provide proactive insights on emerging industry trends, compliance updates, and healthcare cost drivers.
  • Partner with clients to evaluate benefit plan performance, identify opportunities for cost savings and employee health improvements.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Underwriting to drive renewals, upsell opportunities, and overall revenue growth.
  • Partner with the National Accounts Account Manager to ensure seamless day-to-day service execution.
  • Monitor and oversee escalations, ensuring complex client issues are resolved quickly and with transparency.
  • Serve as the executive escalation point for high-visibility issues impacting client satisfaction.
  • Partner with the Health Plan Performance/Analytics Consulting team to deliver customized data reporting.
  • Translate analytics into executive-level insights and communicate actionable recommendations.
  • Ensure clients are prepared with data-driven strategies for renewal and performance planning.
  • Drive accountability across internal stakeholders to ensure National Account standards are met (e.g., Day One Ready implementations, service SLAs).
  • Participate in the National Accounts Leadership Council to ensure continuous improvement in client experience.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices that differentiate National Accounts from the Core business.


Requirements:
  • 7–10 years of experience in national account management, strategic client services, or benefits consulting.
  • Proven success engaging at the C-suite/executive level and presenting to senior leadership teams.
  • Strong knowledge of self-funded health plans, stop-loss, and large group benefits administration required.
  • Exceptional executive presence, communication, and presentation skills required.
  • Ability to interpret complex data and translate into actionable business strategies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems (Salesforce preferred), and reporting/BI tools.
  • Travel required (up to 30–40%) for client stewardship meetings, onsite events, and conferences.
  • Strategic, collaborative, consultative, and solution-oriented mindset with a track record of delivering results.
