Job description

The Executive Director of Revenue Cycle provides enterprise-wide leadership and strategic oversight for all revenue cycle operations across the health system, including the hospital and employed physician practices. This role is accountable for optimizing net patient revenue, safeguarding revenue integrity, and ensuring compliant, efficient, and patient-centered revenue operations.

The Executive Director leads end-to-end revenue cycle performance by aligning people, processes, technology, and data to improve financial sustainability, minimize revenue leakage, and enhance the patient financial experience. The role partners closely with clinical, operational, and financial leaders to drive continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and strong financial outcomes.

This position provides strategic and operational leadership for Patient Access, Central Scheduling, Authorizations, Clinical Documentation Improvement, Utilization Review, Health Information Management, Coding, Professional Services Fees, Billing, and Account Resolution functions across the hospital and physician enterprise.

In collaboration with senior leadership, this role supports the development, implementation, and ongoing management of managed care contracts and reimbursement strategies to ensure optimal financial performance and regulatory compliance.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional certification preferred (e.g., HFMA, AAHAM, MGMA, or other relevant healthcare financial/revenue cycle certification).
  • Significant leadership experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, including hospital and physician practice operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large teams, manage complex operations, and drive measurable improvements in financial and operational performance.
  • EPIC experience strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of payer contracting, reimbursement methodologies, regulatory compliance, and revenue cycle best practices.
  • Experience analyzing and supporting the administration of managed care agreements and reimbursement models.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage resources including personnel, budgets, systems, and operational infrastructure supporting revenue cycle functions.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and change management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across clinical, operational, and financial teams.
