Job Description

Overview: We are currently seeking to hire an experienced Director of Risk Management in the Las Cruces, NM area. This highly visible position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and plays a critical role in overseeing the organization’s enterprise risk management, compliance, patient safety, and ethics initiatives. This is an outstanding opportunity for a healthcare leader who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about driving operational excellence, patient safety, and organizational accountability.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the hospital’s overall Risk Management Program
  • Coordinate risk identification, mitigation, and prevention initiatives
  • Investigate incidents, claims, grievances, and adverse events
  • Manage active litigation support including investigations, interviews, depositions, legal hold documentation, and collaboration with legal counsel
  • Serve as the facility Compliance and Ethics Officer
  • Develop and implement policies related to risk reduction and patient safety
  • Educate leaders, providers, and staff regarding incident reporting and compliance protocols
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to improve organizational accountability and patient outcomes
  • Foster strong provider and interdisciplinary relationships throughout the organization
Requirements

Qualifications – Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current or eligible New Mexico RN license
  • Minimum of five (5) years of healthcare experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship‑building skills

Qualifications – Preferred:

  • MSN, MBA, or Master’s in Healthcare Administration
  • Acute care hospital risk management experience
  • Experience working within a for‑profit hospital environment
  • Ethics & Compliance experience
  • Experience facilitating physician/provider relationships
  • CPHRM, CPHQ, CPPS, or related certifications highly valued
