Executive Director | On-site | SUD: Detox & Res
Banyan Treatment Centers is honored to expand our life-changing services to Mooresville, NC, and are seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead our newest facility. In this leadership role, you will drive operational excellence and clinical quality while serving as the cultural anchor of the facility. This role is an opportunity for a leader who builds culture through presence, develops people intentionally, and has the community relationships and industry standing to represent this facility beyond its walls.
About the Company
Banyan Treatment Centers is a leading national provider of intensive treatment for individuals facing substance use and mental health disorders. Backed by TPG, one of the nation's largest private equity investors, Banyan is rapidly expanding access to high-quality, compassionate care.
The North Carolina facility is a 20-bed, full-continuum operation opening with two SUD programs: Detox and Residential.
Why Join Banyan Treatment Centers?
This is a stabilization and culture-building opportunity for a leader who thrives in complex environments and can establish operational discipline while building team trust from the ground up.
As an Executive Director, you will:
  • Take full cultural and operational ownership of a 20-bed facility
  • Build and develop high-performing teams across two active programs
  • Establish the standard for excellence, accountability, and compassionate care
  • Contribute to strategic direction in partnership with Regional Executive and Senior Leadership
  • Work within a network of Executive Directors and senior operations leadership invested in your success

Benefits
Eligible full-time team members receive comprehensive benefits including:
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life insurance and disability coverage
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Wellness incentives and employee assistance programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set the cultural tone of the facility through consistent, visible, people-first leadership by being accessible to staff, attuned to team dynamics, and quick to address what's not working before it compounds
  • Lead, develop, and stabilize a multi-disciplinary team across clinical, administrative, and support functions, identifying and retaining department-level leaders and investing in staff growth at every level
  • Own all site staffing decisions including recruiting, hiring, coaching, disciplining, and separations, operating within the approved staffing matrix in partnership with department heads and HR
  • Own site-level P&L in partnership with the Regional Executive - driving revenue performance, managing expenses to budget, and overseeing capital expenditure planning
  • Own census performance, program quality, and regulatory compliance across all five programs
  • Own the relationship with licensing officials, facilitate site visits, and develop and implement corrective action plans as needed
  • Ensure a safe, compliant environment in alignment with state, federal, and accreditation standards
  • Oversee the planning and formulation of policies and programs that advance the organization, recommending them for Regional and COO approval
  • Serve as the primary community ambassador by cultivating referral relationships, funding partnerships, and local stakeholder trust through active participation in regional committees, state task forces, and professional organizations
  • Contribute to strategic planning and long-term growth in partnership with Regional Executive and Senior Leadership, including program development, marketing, and organizational structure

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare or a related field; Master's degree, preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in substance use disorder and/or mental health treatment settings
  • Minimum 3 years in a facility leadership role with direct accountability for census performance, staffing, P&L, and regulatory compliance in a residential or higher SUD/MH setting
  • Established community relationships in the North Carolina SUD/MH treatment landscape, preferred
  • Proven ability to analyze market data and execute strategic growth initiatives
  • Strong financial acumen, operations management, and regulatory compliance knowledge
  • Experience with regulatory and accrediting bodies including CARF, Joint Commission, and state and federal agencies
