About the Company
Banyan Treatment Centers is a leading national provider of intensive treatment for individuals facing substance use and mental health disorders. Why Join Banyan Treatment Centers?
As a Telehealth Therapist, you will:
  • Join a mission-driven, nationally recognized organization backed by the resources and infrastructure to deliver best-in-class care at scale.

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide integrated, patient-centered care.
  • Make a direct, lasting impact on patients during one of the most critical phases of their recovery.
  • Grow professionally within an organization that invests in continuous learning, mentorship, and career development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions within an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), managing a caseload of patients across multiple weekly groups.
  • Provide individual therapy to support each patient's progress through treatment.
  • Lead family engagement sessions to build support systems and strengthen continuity of care.
  • Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, including ASAM forms and applicable evaluations, to guide level-of-care decisions and treatment planning.
  • Develop and complete master treatment plans, continuously updating individualized, measurable goals in collaboration with patients and the care team.
  • Apply sound clinical judgment in crisis situations - risk assessment, de-escalation, and suicide risk evaluation - within an outpatient setting.
  • Maintain consistent communication with referral sources and families to support progress and continuity of care.
  • Coordinate step-down and discharge planning, connecting patients with resources for legal, financial, and vocational needs.
  • Follow and provide consistent clinical care throughout the full patient enrollment in the program, from intake through discharge.
  • Maintain thorough, timely clinical documentation across all phases of care - this role involves a significant documentation load.
  • Adapt therapeutic approaches to meet diverse patient needs.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Active, unrestricted LMFT, LCSW, or LPC license in the state of California (Associate/Intern-level, pre-licensed credentials accepted for Professional Counseling, Social Work, and Marriage & Family Therapy tracks).
  • Master's degree, or higher, in social work, psychology, mental health counseling or a related human services field.

Strongly preferred:
  • 2+ years of clinical experience serving SUD and/or MH populations.
  • Active clinical licensure in 3 or more states.
  • Willingness to obtain licensure in additional states as business needs arise.

Preferred:
  • Direct experience at an IOP level of care.
  • Experience with Kipu EMR systems.
  • Experience carrying a full caseload virtually.

Competencies
  • Working knowledge of clinical standards of care for patients with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse patient populations.
