DISCOVER IMPACTFUL WORK:

As an Executive Assistant at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll support the VP, Government Relations, in Washington, DC, by helping to drive focus, efficiency, and execution across a fast-paced, externally facing function with global reach. You will manage his calendar, complex travel, and priorities; ensure strong operating cadence; and enable high-impact engagement with world leaders, industry partners, and senior company executives. You will also provide light office management support for the Washington, DC office.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

  • Own and manage the VP, Government Relations' calendar with a high degree of judgment, prioritization, and anticipation of needs.
  • Coordinate domestic and international travel and logistics tied to government and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensure effective preparation for internal and external meetings, including materials readiness, follow-ups, and action tracking.
  • Coordinate across internal and external stakeholders to align priorities and time.
  • Coordinate administrative inputs and ensure deadlines are met for quarterly U.S. federal lobbying disclosure filings (LD-2).
  • Manage the VP's expense reporting and oversee timely review and approval of team submissions; handle related administrative workflows, including invoicing and finance/HR system requests.
  • Manage confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Ensure smooth day-to-day functioning of the Washington, DC office, including hosting visitors and senior company executives.
  • Coordinate vendor relationships (including landlord/building management), supplies, and workspace needs.
  • Ensure the office consistently reflects a high standard and represents Thermo Fisher well.

HOW YOU WILL GET HERE:

  • High school diploma required. Minimum of 5 years of executive administrative experience, or Associate’s Degree plus 2 years of executive assistant experience supporting senior leadership, preferably in a global corporate environment.
  • Proven experience supporting a senior executive in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage competing demands.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Clear, concise communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to anticipate needs and proactively solve problems.
  • Highly reliable, responsive, and adaptable.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Experience coordinating complex international travel and managing detailed logistics.
  • Proficiency in standard workplace tools (e.g., Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, ChatGPT Enterprise).
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI and digital tools thoughtfully to improve efficiency, organization, and output quality.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • This is an office-based role on Capitol Hill near Eastern Market in Washington, DC, with potential for hybrid flexibility after onboarding.
  • Limited and infrequent domestic travel may be required.
  • Flexibility to support needs outside standard business hours.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in District of Columbia is $90,000.00–$110,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
