Job description

Job Summary:

The Senior Exchange Online Messaging Engineer is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and governance of Upstates enterprise messaging that are critical to business, educational, clinical, and research operations. This role establishes standards for mail flow to ensure consistent and secure operation of messaging systems across the organization. Working independently, the incumbent provides advanced technical leadership for Exchange Online and related integrations, including secure mail routing and SMTP relay services that support applications such as portals, reporting platforms, and external partner access. The role supports cross-functional initiatives involving security, compliance, and application teams and contributes to the development of long-term messaging strategies that align with regulatory requirements and organizational priorities, while guiding administrators in delivering reliable, scalable, and resilient communication services across a complex academic medical environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in a computer- or STEM-related field. Four years' experience administering Exchange with at least two years supporting Exchange Online. Must be self-directed with strong interpersonal, communication, analytic, and computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree preferred. Experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting is preferred.
