Job description

Location:                          300 Cadman Plaza West, Brooklyn, NY 11201
Position Title:                   Exams Development Unit, Emerging Talent Intern
Hourly Rate:                    $21.00 (Graduate)
 
All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location.
 
 
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:
The personnel testing, selection and classification unit is responsible for conducting research, developing and administering pre-employment test and assessments for various civil service and non-civil service positions. The unit is also charged with making determinations regarding eligibility of candidates for employment by evaluating their education and experience and determining if they meet the minimum qualification requirements for employment. 
 
The intern will involve in the adoption of computer-based testing tasked with developing the item bank and all related tasks. They will learn elements of the field of Test and Measurement, including how to write and edit test questions, conduct job analyses, conduct research, write reports, analyze data and assist in the administration of examinations and assessments. They be responsible for reviewing resumes and serving on interview panels with HR staff and subject matter experts for various operating positions.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conducting provisional hiring interviews.
  • Reviewing test questions.
  • Working with subject matter expert panels for test review.
  • Helping with inputting questions into the computerized testing program.
  • Helping test the computerized testing program.
  • Reviewing resumes to determine if candidates are qualified for positions.
  • Helping with job analyses.
  • Helping with notices of examination.  
 
PROJECTS:
  • Computerized Testing Program.
  • Notice Database.
  • Provisional Hiring.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
  • The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills. 
  • The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
 
 
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • Matriculated in a in a graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA
  • Major(s) Preferred: Industrial Organizational Psychology, or related field.
