Your Role in Our Journey
Are you a wine lover with an insatiable appetite for learning more about as many grape varietals, regions and wine styles as possible? If so, this opportunity with The Wine Enthusiast magazine's Tasting Department, based at the company's headquarters in Valhalla, NY, might be perfect for you!
The primary responsibility of this position is to coordinate the categorization of the hundreds of wines received by the Tasting Department each month. The Tasting Coordinator will also assist in arranging wine flights and pouring wines for reviewers following Wine Enthusiast's blind-tasting protocol.
Additionally, the Tasting Coordinator will provide client support to importers, wineries and producers, assist with events on-location, and perform other special projects as assigned.
What You'll Be Uncorking
Key Responsibilities:
  • Compare and modify submission entries against sample labels to match Wine Enthusiast's editorial style.
  • Tag and organize bottles according to region and style in Tasting Room cellars.
  • Receive deliveries and process samples with sensitivity to review schedule.
  • Communicate with importers and wineries to verify the accuracy of product submissions.
  • Arrange flights for blind review by region, grape variety, style, vintage, et al.
  • Pour wines for reviewers in adherence to Wine Enthusiast's blind-tasting protocol.
  • Respond professionally and promptly to client support requests.
  • Assist with entry of reviews into the Tasting Department's proprietary database.
  • Modify and confirm codes for large volume submissions (group tastings, advertorials and special issues).
  • Complete time-sensitive special projects in collaboration with other departments as assigned.
  • Actively participate in meetings to determine weekly task assignments and long-term project planning.

The Perfect Blend (What You Bring to the Table)
Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years professional experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to clarify information for clients of diverse linguistic backgrounds.
  • The ability to proactively prioritize daily tasks, manage and complete multiple projects simultaneously within time constraints.
  • Proven ability to work independently, demonstrating self-initiative and autonomy.
  • Detail-oriented and capable focusing on large amounts of data entry.
  • Demonstrated track record of elevating team dynamics by bringing a solutions-oriented attitude and collaborating to achieve shared goals.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds and be comfortable with moving boxes on a daily basis.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Demonstrable wine knowledge (WSET Level 2 Award in Wines, CMS Level 1 or comparable wine industry experience).
  • Familiarity with Excel, Google Suite, Adobe and comfortable with learning how to use a proprietary database.

This position is fully on-site, up to four days per week at our Valhalla, NY headquarters.
Note: A commuter shuttle service is available to and from the White Plains Metro-North station.

The pay range for this role is:
20 - 25 USD per hour (Valhalla, NY)
