Job description

The Diocese of Crookston is seeking a Temporary Full-Time OR Part-Time Retreat Center & Special Events Coordinator to provide maternity leave coverage at Nazareth Retreat House. 

This temporary position is located on-site in Crookston, Minnesota. It is anticipated to begin October 1, 2026, allowing for a period of training with the current coordinator, and continue through approximately April 2027, depending upon ministry needs and the return of the employee from approved leave. The Diocese reserves the discretion to fill this position on either a full-time or part-time basis, depending upon organizational needs and the qualifications and availability of the selected candidate. 

Nazareth Retreat House welcomes thousands of guests each year for retreats, conferences, youth events, and spiritual formation. Working under the supervision of the Nazareth Retreat House Director, the Retreat Center & Special Events Coordinator serves an important ministry of Christian hospitality, ensuring that every guest experiences a welcoming, organized, and faith-filled environment. 

Primary Responsibilities 

The successful candidate will: 

  • Be a practicing Catholic with a commitment to the Church’s mission and retreat ministry. 
  • Coordinate retreat reservations, facility bookings, contracts, and guest correspondence.  
  • Maintain retreat, meeting, and event calendars.  
  • Welcome retreat guests and oversee check-in procedures.  
  • Coordinate logistics for retreats, conferences, meetings, and special events.  
  • Work collaboratively with housekeeping, maintenance, food service, finance, reception, and administrative staff.  
  • Assist with retreat operations as needed, including preparing guest spaces and supporting meal service during retreats.  
  • Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and dignified environment consistent with the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church.  
  • Provide excellent customer service while representing the Diocese of Crookston with professionalism and hospitality.  

These responsibilities reflect the current position description for the Retreat Center and Special Events Coordinator.  

Qualifications 

The ideal candidate will possess: 

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.  
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.  
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.  
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced hospitality environment.  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.

  • A positive attitude, flexibility, and a genuine desire to serve others.  

Experience in hospitality, event coordination, office administration, customer service, or ministry is preferred. 

Employment Information 

Position Status: Temporary, Full-Time OR Part-Time, Non-Exempt 

Expected Assignment: October 1, 2026, through approximately April 2027 

Work Schedule: Generally 25-40 hours per week. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required depending upon retreat schedules and special events. 

Benefits: This temporary position is eligible for benefits in accordance with Diocese of Crookston policies. 

This position is established to provide temporary coverage during an approved employee leave of absence. Employment is expected to conclude upon completion of the temporary assignment.
