Job description

The Special Events and Experiences Assistant is responsible for executing both internal and external events for the Cleveland Metroparks and Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. This includes coordination with the Event Operations Manager and Sales Manager to ensure a seamless transition into the event planning and execution process.

  • Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required. All Cleveland Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
  • Assists in end-to-end event execution of weddings, picnics, corporate programs and special events, including room set-up, F&B, AV, vendor load-in/out, and onsite client communications.
  • Uses vehicles (including vans, cars, and golf carts) to safely escort private vehicles through crowded areas in the Zoo and throughout the Park District.
  • Works on special projects and assists with major Park District Events.
  • Travels to various locations throughout the park district to assist with park district events including: Transporting event supplies; performs set-up duties, assists with event; and performs tear duties.
  • Adheres to the Special Events & Experiences standard operating procedures and uniform policy.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to take direction from staff, collaborate with others, and maintain effective working relationships with employees, vendors, clients, and the general public.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and responsiveness in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to confidently maneuver vehicles including vans, cars and golf carts.
  • Ability to work evening and weekends in varying environments and all weather conditions.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including employees and the general public.
  • Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation with ability to communicate one-on-one or in group settings.
  • Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative.

Work Schedule:Must be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
