Job Duties:
Join the READY RURAL team and play a key role in advancing innovative rural healthcare education and workforce development across Wisconsin. We are seeking a highly organized, collaborative, and detail-oriented Project Coordinator to serve as the operational lead for the day-to-day implementation of this transformative grant initiative.
In this role, you will coordinate project timelines, meetings, communications, documentation, partner engagement, budget tracking, and reporting activities while supporting multiple interconnected workstreams, including simulation-based education, Virtual Care, mobile simulation, workforce pathways, and rural healthcare partnerships. Working closely with faculty, staff, healthcare organizations, technical colleges, public health agencies, and community stakeholders, you will help translate strategic grant objectives into coordinated action, ensuring project milestones, deliverables, and budget requirements are successfully achieved.
The ideal candidate is an experienced project management professional with exceptional organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative educational initiatives that strengthen the rural healthcare workforce and improve access to care for communities across the state.
Universities of Wisconsin also offers an extremely competitive benefits package for 2026 that includes:
  • Health plans, currently starting at $45 per month.
  • 176 hours of vacation per year (prorated for start date).
  • 36 hours of personal holiday, and 9 legal holidays (prorated for start date).
  • 176 Hours of sick leave for first 18 months. After this period, employees can earn up to 96 hours per fiscal year. Accumulates without limit and does not expire.
  • Paid parental leave after six months of continuous employment.
  • Wisconsin Retirement System (pension) with 7.2% employer contribution for 2026.

This position is initially offered as a one-year grant-funded appointment, with the expectation of renewal for up to four years, contingent upon continued grant funding and satisfactory performance.
Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Analyzes data and trends, compiles progress reports, and provides appropriate recommendations or conclusions
  • Serves as the initial point of contact for the project(s), serves on committees, and attends meetings representing the interests of the project(s)
  • Develops, schedules, coordinates, and prioritizes project work plans in accordance with specifications and resource limitations
  • Establishes, monitors, coordinates, and controls project budgets versus actual expenditures and budget reporting
  • Develops, enhances, and maintains operational standards and systems to support project teams

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, public health, education, business administration, organizational leadership, project management, or related field.
  • Professional experience coordinating programs, projects, grants, or complex initiatives.
  • Experience managing timelines, meeting logistics, communications, documentation, or reporting processes.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and competing deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and detail-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in higher education, healthcare, workforce development, rural health, public health, or grant-funded environments.
  • Experience with budget tracking, grant reporting, event planning, or partner coordination.
  • Familiarity with simulation-based education, telehealth, Virtual Care, healthcare workforce pathways, or academic-practice partnerships.
  • Experience using Microsoft 365, project management tools, shared workspaces, dashboards, or reporting systems.
