Deacon Construction is seeking a Project Manager to join our Special Projects Division in Portland. ABOUT THE ROLE
As Project Manager in our Special Projects Division, you will own your projects from preconstruction through close-out, working across a diverse mix of tenant improvement and commercial renovation work. You will partner closely with your Superintendent and manage all aspects of financial performance, scheduling, client communication, and subcontractor relationships, all while living Deacon’s core values of Integrity, Teamwork, and Commitment to Excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own your projects from preconstruction through close-out, including estimating, budgeting, procurement, and overall financial performance.
  • Maintain positive job margins through every phase of the project.
  • Manage the project team in close collaboration with the Superintendent, keeping projects on or ahead of schedule.
  • Drive and cultivate long-term relationships with clients, architects, and subcontractors.
  • Lead project meetings, deliver timely and transparent reporting, and keep all stakeholders informed.
  • Handle contract compliance, change orders, submittals, subcontracts, insurance, material procurement, logistics, as-builts, and close-out.
  • Manage subcontractor lists, schedules, and scope coverage throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to conceptual budgeting and collaborate with the team on estimation review and budget management.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3 or more years of experience in construction management with relevant Special Projects or tenant improvement history.
  • Degree in Construction Management or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize across multiple active projects simultaneously.
  • Solid understanding of estimating, scheduling, contract administration, and construction means and methods.
  • Strong communicator who can build lasting relationships with owners, architects, and subcontractors.
  • Comfortable with construction software and project management tools; experience with Procore is a plus.
