Job Summary:
Point Loma Nazarene University is seeking a highly organized and collaborative Events Operations Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of the School of Nursing. This role serves as a central resource for faculty, students, prospective students, and community partners by coordinating events, communications, academic operations, and administrative processes that contribute to the success of the School of Nursing.
Working closely with the Dean and faculty leadership, the Operations Assistant helps create an exceptional experience for students and visitors while ensuring departmental operations run efficiently. The ideal candidate enjoys balancing multiple priorities, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is passionate about supporting nursing education through exceptional organization, communication, and service.

What You'll Be Doing
Events, Marketing & Communications
  • Coordinate the planning and execution of School of Nursing events, workshops, program immersions, ceremonies, and departmental meetings
  • Manage event logistics including scheduling, room setup, supplies, catering, communications, and day-of-event coordination
  • Maintain inventory and supplies supporting departmental events and program activities
  • Manage the School of Nursing master calendar to support effective planning and coordination
  • Maintain and update the School of Nursing website and social media platforms to promote programs, events, and student engagement
  • Assist in developing marketing materials and communications supporting student recruitment and departmental initiatives
  • Maintain faculty curriculum vitae and other departmental records

Academic Operations & Program Support
  • Maintain departmental documents including syllabi, handbooks, meeting minutes, continuing education records, and student program materials
  • Support admissions and scholarship processes by maintaining tracking information and assisting with administrative workflows
  • Coordinate classroom, event, and meeting scheduling using Coursedog and other university systems
  • Maintain departmental communications and resources through the MyPLNU platform
  • Coordinate activities supporting student representative organizations and student engagement initiatives
  • Facilitate campus visits and informational experiences for prospective nursing students
  • Provide administrative support for clinical placement activities and operational projects as needed
  • Assist with accreditation reporting by gathering and organizing required documentation and supporting committee work
  • Provide administrative support for departmental committees including Alumni, Scholarship, Pinning Ceremony, and other School of Nursing initiatives
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience in office administration, event coordination, program administration, marketing communications, or related fields
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, project coordination, and time management abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
  • Strong computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn specialized systems and software
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office or Google Workspace applications
  • Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, staff agree to live in agreement with PLNU's Community Life Covenant.

  • Experience supporting accreditation, academic operations, or student services

Physical Requirements
  • Work is primarily sedentary and may require sitting for extended periods of time

  • Ability to read documents, email, reports, and other correspondence in digital and printed formats
