Job description

THE JOB / Account Trainee (Event and Volunteer Management)

EVENTS / Responsible for planning and executing event and experiential marketing programs.

Assist event staff with day-to-day preparation and execution of the SAS Championship, a PGA TOUR Champions event held October 12 - 18, 2026, at Prestonwood Country Club. The Octagon staff, located in Cary, NC, is directly responsible for managing all aspects of the event.

THE WORK YOU'LL DO

  • Recruit and manage 700+ event volunteers
  • Manage recruitment and coordination of volunteers as well as the online volunteer database for scheduling management and communication plans
  • During tournament week, oversee Volunteer Headquarters set up, including food and beverage, volunteer services and ensure volunteers are transported (if needed) to their respective on-course posts
  • Respond to general event inquiries (dates, event schedule, ticket prices etc.)
  • Carry out assigned tasks with limited supervision, including coordinating and implementing projects
  • Assist with implementation of special projects & partnership extensions in Cary
  • Contribute to the coordination and activation of key Tournament special events like Women's Day, Food Truck Friday, 5K at the SAS Championship, etc.
  • Other related duties/projects as reasonably assigned

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • A passion for and expertise in sports, entertainment, gaming, music and/or celebrity & lifestyle culture
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Polished communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong desire to work in a team setting
  • Confident ability to solve problems, demonstrate initiative, and present a proactive work ethic
  • Extreme organization, multi-tasking ability, and commitment to deadlines
  • Mature business sense and ability to work alongside client on a daily basis
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Internet
  • Interest in sports and event management as a long-term career
  • Valid US driver's license and clean driving record
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel domestically and work weekends or holidays as needed. Anticipated travel level: Low (0-15%)

This position pays minimum wage and is overtime-eligible.
