Job description

Job Summary:
Responsible for assisting in the security management of events across all Ilitch Sports + Entertainment venues including Little Caesars Arena, Comerica Park, Fox Theatre, Pine Knob Music Theatre, Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre, and Meadowbrook Amphitheatre. Ensure the security staff delivers quality service with internal and external guests through excellence in standards, presentation, and professionalism. Assists in event activities such as gathering pre-event information, event planning, pre-event preparedness and managing ancillary components of events in consultation with Event Security Managers. Participating in event staff training/orientation, performance, and coaching. Assisting in gathering event related data and statistics.
During events, responds to event related incidents, which occur in the area and works with the Event Security Managers to resolve any security related issues. Provides event security and safety services to all Ilitch Sports + Entertainment venues.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates security operations for ancillary events in association of games and events at Ilitch Sports + Entertainment venues.
  • Manages security operations for some events at the Fox Theatre, Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre, and Meadowbrook Amphitheatre.
  • Completes event notes for each ticketed event and assists in the briefing of event staff prior to events.
  • Communicates with other departments and outside contacts through attending ticketed and non-ticketed event meetings to ascertain staffing and security operational needs for events.
  • Ensures equipment including walk through metal detectors, hand wands, event related paperwork, wristbands etc... are in working condition and properly deployed.
  • Orients new staff during initial trainings and beginning of employment.
  • Assists in the tracking and presentation of colleague attendance and discipline.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in area of study, preferably security management or criminal justice, experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in security and safety, experience with, public or private sector security and event management.
  • The ability to travel throughout metro Detroit.
  • Strong management and training ability.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proof of and maintain a valid operator's license and clean driving record.
  • Must be willing and able to work evening and weekends.
  • Must pass a criminal background check in accordance with company policy and periodically checked thereafter.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in security management or criminal justice.
  • Professional training certifications in Security Management or Criminal Justice.

Working Conditions:
  • Works at times in a normal office environment where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, noise, dust and the like.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of outdoor climates including extreme heat and cold, humidity, rain and darkness as well as environments that can include exposure loud noises to include crowd and concert noise.
