The central focus of the Event Operations Supervisor is to work closely with the Event Operations Manager, contributing to the determination, coordination, and supervision of the maintenance of production equipment within the center. This role involves the direct oversight and management of the APP ELITE Event Team, a dynamic assembly comprising up to 300 student and non-student temporary employees. The Event Operations Supervisor plays a pivotal role in the supervision of the Event Operations team, ensuring smooth event changeovers and efficient setup/tear downs. Core responsibilities encompass the recruitment and training of the APP ELITE Event Team staff, with a key emphasis on planning, scheduling, coordinating, and supervising their activities. Serving as a technical liaison between the staff and facility users, the Event Operations Supervisor is instrumental in ensuring effective communication and the successful execution of events.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Take charge as the leader of the campus-wide APP ELITE Event Team, spearheading an efficient and effective event staff. Conduct thorough training sessions for students, equipping them with the necessary skills for the proper use of all equipment. Provide comprehensive training for various front-of-house positions such as ushers, security personnel, and ticket takers, as well as for roles involving loading, event setup, and other responsibilities. Maintain a vigilant presence, continuously monitoring the work of student employees to ensure the correct setup of stages, steps, seats, tables, and other event elements. Conduct comprehensive safety checks by walking through all areas in use before events, identifying and mitigating potential hazards, ensuring a secure environment. As a proactive leader, prioritize safety by ensuring that all production crews utilizing the facility adhere to safe practices. Conduct thorough inspections, including rigging and cable runs, to guarantee their safety and functionality before opening doors for an event. This role emphasizes a commitment to a secure and well-executed event environment, placing emphasis on leadership, training, and meticulous safety measures.
Program Administration:
The role involves comprehensive oversight of the APP ELITE Event Team, encompassing the meticulous scheduling and planning of both daily tasks and event-related projects. Effective management of event staffing schedules is a priority, ensuring optimal coverage and seamless coordination. Direct supervision of event conversions and set-ups is undertaken with a commitment to efficient execution. Proactive engagement with promoters, managers, and stakeholders is essential, involving the gathering of necessary information and advancing event details. Collaborative efforts with promoters and managers are integral to ensuring timely request fulfillment, emphasizing a client-oriented service approach. Regular reviews of existing procedures and recommendations for new or revised processes are conducted, providing valuable insights for continuous improvement. Additionally, responsibility is assumed for the maintenance and storage of specialized technical production equipment to ensure operational readiness and longevity. In this role, coordination of students, temps, and contractors is pivotal, focusing on timely, efficient, and safe conversions from one event to the next. Primarily working overnight with limited supervision, this position holds a high degree of responsibility to ensure thorough event setups. Collaboration with outside vendors, laborers, and services becomes necessary, especially during periods when students are out of school. Identifying equipment and product needs, researching manufacturers and suppliers, and procuring necessary items for events or programs are integral responsibilities. The position also may involve proposing innovative approaches to enhance the efficiency and safety of event conversions.
Knowledge-Program & Organization:
Familiarity with and adherence to State, University, and Holmes Center policies is essential. Possess comprehensive knowledge of sound and lighting equipment, encompassing their uses and designs. Demonstrate expertise in event operations, covering both front-of-house and back-of-house processes. Maintain a foundational understanding of basic rigging principles. Ensure the functionality of all technical equipment by conducting regular checks and promptly addressing any issues to uphold proper and safe use. Undertake routine maintenance on equipment to guarantee ongoing functionality and safety compliance.
