Job Summary:
The Event registration Assistant is a flexible, engaging, and patient person with excellent people skills and a passion for hospitality. This position serves as the assistant to the Youth & Family Activities Coordinator. Possible duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to assistance with coordinating youth and family events and programs, event registration services, communication with vendors, event prep, setup and teardown, and assisting with activity planning. The Youth Activities Event Assistant's goal is to provide a memorable experience that exceeds expectations. He/she preserves and promotes the unique culture of the DAC known for service excellence and goodwill among members, guests, and staff.
The Youth Activities Event Assistant is a part-time, year-round employee, reporting directly to the Youth & Family Activities Coordinator and the Director of Catering and Special Events.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the set-up for all youth and family events, including vendor load-in, centerpieces, favors, event check-in, and tear-down after the event.
  • Assist with generating creative ideas for year-round youth and family programs, including birthday parties.
  • Meet and greet members and their families/guests.
  • Promote facilities and services and answer family and youth-related programming inquiries.
  • Welcome feedback, including complaints, and work with the Youth & Family Activities Coordinator to remedy any issue.
  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with Club rules and polices.
  • Other duties and tasks as required or assigned by Youth & Family Activities Coordinator and other management.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must possess strong communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality while providing excellent member service.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with members, their children, and Club staff.
  • Ability to anticipate needs of members.
  • Strong organizational skills, and ability to act with efficiency and sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work a variable schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays, as aligned with Club programming and Events.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, while remaining flexible, proactive, and resourceful.
  • Ability to demonstrate awareness and respect for the ambiance, history, culture, taste and expectations of the Club and membership.
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language fluently to interact with members and guests.

Education and/or Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in any area of hospitality, education, physical education, child development or related field strongly preferred.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: event planning, customer service, childcare, athletic or year-round camps, recreation or other youth-related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience in an upscale club or hospitality industry setting is strongly preferred.
  • Educational background in child development or recreation management is preferred.
  • American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard is preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Most work is performed in temperature moderated environments. However, some work may be in varying environmental conditions with occasional exposure to extreme heat or cold, as needed.
  • Walking and standing are required during parts of the workday. The duration depends on the event and task.
  • Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, stand, sit, and use stairs.
  • Must be able lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to sit/stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Moderate/excessive noise level in the work environment.
  • Must possess finger dexterity to manipulate objects.
  • Location of work/office/space may be changed as needed or required.
