Workforce Training Instructor
Westbrook Adult Education is seeking part-time Workforce Training Instructors to teach evening workforce preparation courses for adult learners interested in entering employment and career training pathways beginning September 2026.
Courses are designed to support students in building workplace readiness, contextual English language skills, digital literacy, industry vocabulary, professionalism, and career-specific foundational skills.
Current and planned course offerings may include:
  • Bridge to Construction Careers
  • Bridge to Ironworks
  • Bridge to Business Technology
  • Additional workforce bridge programs as developed

The ideal candidate is student-centered, flexible, culturally responsive, and passionate about helping adult learners successfully transition into employment, workforce training, apprenticeships, and career pathways.
Position Timeline
  • Position begins September 2026
  • Evening instructional hours
  • Approximately 6 8 hours per week
  • Part-time, non-benefited position

Essential Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging workforce readiness instruction for adult learners
  • Create a welcoming, supportive, and professional classroom environment
  • Teach contextualized workforce skills related to assigned program areas
  • Support learners in developing workplace communication and professionalism
  • Integrate workforce readiness skills such as punctuality, teamwork, problem solving, and workplace expectations into instruction

  • Collaborate with workforce training staff and community partners as needed
  • Assist in preparing students for workforce training opportunities, employment, certifications, or pre-apprenticeship pathways

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching adults, workforce training, ESOL, career readiness, or related fields
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with multilingual learners and diverse populations
  • Experience in construction, trades, business technology, workforce development, or related industries is valued but not required
  • ESOL certification encouraged but not required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required depending on experience
