Job description

The Medical Receptionist is responsible for providing excellent customer service to patients of the practice. This person works as part of the front desk team and maintains positive relationships with clinical staff, patients, and vendors. The Medical Receptionist performs all functions related to registration, patient scheduling, medical record and referral processing, check-in/check-out, and new patient registration.
Responsibilities include:
  • Greeting patients and guests.
  • Completing the check-in and check-out processes for patients.
  • Answering telephone with company standards to assist patients with requests.
  • Collection of payments: co-pays, co-insurance, deductibles, and patient balances.
  • Scheduling and confirming patient appointments.
  • Inputting patient data into the electronic medical record system.
  • Retrieve electronic faxes: attach records to patient charts or forward requests to appropriate staff members.
  • Collection of urine drug screens.
  • Represent the practice in a professional and positive manner.
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Office Manager.

Schedule:
  • 8-hour shift.
  • Monday- Friday 7:45am- 4:30pm.

Education: High school or equivalent. (Preferred).

Requirements:
  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Experience using electronic medical record systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Experience:
  • Customer service: 1 year. (Preferred).
  • Medical terminology: 1 year. (Preferred).
  • Computer skills: 1 year. (Preferred).
