About this Role - Estimator
We are looking for a talented Estimator that has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for leading the development of technical scope of work and independently develop cost estimates and resource requirements for industrial and commercial electrical construction projects Nationwide.
What You'll Do
  • Assist with the request for proposal preparation and evaluations, project specifications, and pricing schedules
  • Prepare pre-approval project estimates based on limited information and general scopes of work, often lacking specific precedence
  • Assist project team in scoping of projects for engineering, construction, and contractual requirements
  • Develop detailed post-approval project estimates based on company standards and site-specific facility drawings
  • Perform material take-offs and cost analyses to support estimates
  • Assist with the development of pricing schedules and weighting criteria for proposal evaluations
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of items and assemblies in estimating software
  • Provide expert judgment of costs to support competitive bid and negotiated contracts
  • Assist with the development of standardized historical cost databases and application tools to aid future estimates
  • Provide oversight, coordination, management support and technical expertise for all aspects of electrical construction projects in the Industrial and Commercial markets
  • Review plans, specifications, drawings to determine the cost of the project
  • Analyze time, equipment, tooling, material and manpower requirements for each project
  • Perform material takeoffs and develop a written estimate of cost to perform the work according to the specifications
  • Provide Operations with a detailed cost estimate, corresponding proposal letter and bid form breakout for transition of ownership of the project
  • Interface with customers, vendors and subcontractors to determine the cost of the project
  • Gather information to determine subcontractor and vendor suitability and aggressively gain the best pricing
  • Exercise significant independent discretion in developing project estimates and applying "mark-up" and "labor factors"
  • Visit customer field locations as required to ascertain project conditions
  • Attend pre and post bid meetings as required and be able to effectively present information to clients to sell our projects
  • Select pool of potential subcontractors and equipment vendors to solicit their proposals
  • Analyze special safety and code requirements on all projects
  • Work as part of an integrated Operations and Estimating team in acquiring projects
  • Properly turns over bid documents to Operations in a timely manner
