Job Description
The Instructor and Director of eSports will lead, develop, and coordinate the university's comprehensive eSports initiative, integrating academic programming with recreational and competitive student experiences. The role will support interdisciplinary collaboration, industry engagement, student development, and institutional visibility in the eSports field. As an instructor, this role will include teaching a minimum of one class per semester in the eSports program.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree (minimum) in a relevant field:
  • eSports management or coaching
  • Sport management or Kinesiology
  • Digital Media or Interactive Media
  • Game Design or informatics
  • Higher Education or Educational Leadership (with eSports experience)
  • Teacher Education field (e.g., STEM discipline) with eSports experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Holds a master's (or doctoral) degree in sports management, education field, computer science, or media/gaming fields.
  • Experience directing or coaching eSports at the high school or collegiate level.
  • Demonstrates successful teaching in higher education, especially with project-based or experiential models.
  • Has a working knowledge of both academic frameworks (e.g., learning outcomes, curriculum development) and recreational/student engagement.
  • Possesses strong industry connections, certifications, or experience organizing tournaments and community events.
  • Shows a passion for bridging academics and practice, ideally with a research interest or leadership potential in eSports education.
  • Prior work with Title IX and inclusive gaming initiatives.
  • Experience building out eSports labs, arenas, or broadcast setups.
  • Fundraising or partnership building skills
