Reporting to the Athletics Broadcast Engineer, the Assistant Director of Broadcast Operations and Engineering will assist with the management, production and transmission of live sporting contests, studio shows and special events for Villanova Athletics. The Assistant Director of Broadcast Operations and Engineering will manage the daily technical and engineering operations of Villanova Athletics' Broadcast and Video Production department, focusing on the operation around all linear networks, ESPN+ and in-venue videoboard shows across the department. They will assist with the maintenance, troubleshooting, and operations of all Villanova Athletics broadcast and audio systems. The Assistant Director of Broadcast Operations and Engineering will serve as the technical lead for event crews to successfully execute broadcast and video board productions.
All duties must be performed in accordance with University, Conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
**The anticipated start date for this position will be June 1

Duties and Responsibilities:
Broadcasts & Video Boards
  • Serve as Engineer in Charge for Villanova Sports Network/ESPN broadcasts and video board shows, including control room and venue setup, equipment management, and crew oversight.
  • Oversee maintenance, technical transmission operations of broadcast and audio/video systems.
  • Manage IT and broadcast systems, including video routers, servers, and studio equipment.
  • Maintain in-venue videoboard displays and associated support.
  • Provide first class customer service and act as a technical liaison to teams and units.
  • Collaborate on enhancements and strategic initiatives.

Staffing & Administration
  • Oversee the recruitment and training of a free-lance staff, post-graduate interns and student interns.
  • Manage scheduling and payroll operation.

Other
  • Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Education
  • Bachelor's degree required.

Work Experience
  • Background and proficiency in broadcast engineering and video/audio signal flow and transmission.

Work Skills (e.g., written and verbal communication skills)
  • A positive attitude and high energy level with the ability to excel in a fast-paced and high-pressure "live" environment, working quickly and completing tasks effectively.
  • Leadership experience directing free-lancer staff, students and/or postgraduate interns.
  • Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and a commitment to customer service.

Work Experience
