Job description

The Senior Real Estate Loan Closer prepares and reviews closing packages for all real estate secured loans, provides documents to closing agents in a timely manner, answers questions related to loan closings to facilitate a timely closing, and reviews reports and documentation related to workflow and loan funding. This position is expected to have hands-on knowledge of all Loan Closing Services functions and to assist with research and problem resolution as needed.
  • (60%) Accurately prepare loan closing documents on the loan origination system, utilize document repositories for loan file documentation, utilize the secured site for uploading and downloading closing documents. Review insurance, taxes, and additional documents for accuracy and to address escrow related issues. Ensure regulation disclosure timing requirements are met. Maintain an active loan pipeline while completing loan review and processing. Expected to complete a designated number of loan files daily to maintain department level expectations.
  • (20%) Maintain working knowledge of department duties related to reporting and loan funding. As assigned, work reports and follow-up with appropriate parties to obtain required loan documentation, review loan documentation to ensure accurate wire funding setup, complete required steps related to closing agent approval.
  • (10%) Subject matter expert on the Credit Union's lending policy and federal regulations related to real estate secured loan closings. Communicate with Credit Union personnel and closing agents to ensure compliance with closing instructions. Work with other internal departments to ensure all loan file documentation has been received and reviewed to facilitate a timely closing.
  • (10%) To properly support other internal departments and closing agents, respond to phone calls and emails in a timely and complete fashion.

Required Education & Experience (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • 5 years direct loan closing experience or equivalent industry knowledge.
  • Experience performing complex file review to ensure documentation is obtained and verified in accordance with policies and guidelines.
  • Experience meeting production and quality standards.
  • Experience managing high volume loan pipeline and simultaneous workflow priorities.
  • Must be professional and courteous in all interactions with closing agents, co-workers, and members.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, problem solving abilities, and critical thinking skills.
  • Must be able to collaborate in a team setting and exemplify a helpful attitude to successfully assist others as needed.
  • Must possess an independent work ethic along with time management and organizational skills.

Preferred Education & Experience (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):
  • Associates Degree
  • 5 years direct loan closing experience or equivalent industry knowledge.
  • Familiarity with real estate secured compliance guidelines and federal regulations, e.g., TILA-RESPA, HMDA, ECOA, UDAAP, GSE
