Job description

CPS is currently undertaking a multi-year ERP modernization program for migrating and upgrading on-premise Oracle E-Business Financials, and Oracle PeopleSoft Human Capital Management Applications, and Kronos Workforce Management System to the latest SaaS-based Oracle Cloud ERP Platform as part of business and technology transformation.
Job Summary:
The ERP Data Team Lead is responsible for the orchestration of migrating On-Premise Oracle E-Business and Oracle PeopleSoft data to Oracle Fusion Cloud and Business Intelligence Analytical Reporting to meet the business and technical requirements for the ERP Modernization Program. This position resides in ERP Portfolio Management of the Information and Technology Services (ITS) and reports to the Director of ERP Portfolio Management. This role will be responsible for the orchestration of On-Premise Oracle E-Business and Oracle PeopleSoft data migration activities to Oracle Fusion Cloud to meet business requirements.
The ERP Data Team Lead will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:
  • Develop data governance policy, plans, and procedures with solid experience in developing data cleansing strategies, action plans, reconciliation plans, and scripts.
  • Recruit, onboard, and provide direction, guidance, and strong leadership and performance management to the data governance team to ensure robust learning and career development consistent with the CPS values and mission; foster collaboration and effective integration of efforts with division-wide initiatives.
  • Determine the validity of the values of the data elements and review and validate data relationships.
  • Coordinate with data owners to validate cleansed data.
  • Determine data migration requirements.
  • Define roles and responsibilities for the data migration activities.
  • Recommend and implement policies and procedures around data governance, including data retention, data archival, and purging.
  • Review and provide comments and suggestions on the data management plan, data migration plan, checklist, timeline, and conversion report delivered.
  • Document migration activity timelines for mock conversions and production deployment.
  • Develop a data migration checklist and sign-off process to ensure completion of planned activities.
  • Map the data in the format provided in conversion templates. This includes mapping the current account codes to the future account codes etc.
  • Assist with determining data migration security controls.
  • Develop unit and end-to-end integration migration test plans (including testing for data extraction, transformation, data loading, and data validation).
  • Validate data of multiple mock conversions and the full migration, coordinating with unit and end-to-end integration testing to ensure the flow of data from the source applications to the target applications is accurate.
  • Document the end-to-end data migration test results and lessons learned report.
  • Other duties and workstreams as assigned.

In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Data Team Lead must possess the following qualifications:
Education Required:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Master's of Business Administration
  • Oracle ERP Cloud certifications preferred.
  • Oracle Fusion Technical Certification preferred.

Experience Required:
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of ERP data migration experience, including.
    • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in managing and leading Oracle Fusion Cloud integration workstream- On-Premise Oracle E-Business and Oracle PeopleSoft to Oracle Fusion Cloud.
    • A minimum of five (5) years of experience managing data migration activities for Oracle ERP Cloud Tech stack.
    • A minimum of two (2) years of recent end-to-end full life cycle experience as an Oracle Fusion data migration lead implementing Oracle Fusion Financials, HCM, Projects, Grants & Assets, and Procurement Cloud Services.
  • Experience developing data models, data integrity and normalization rules, and developing data extraction, load, and transformation scripts.
  • Experience in the business context of data in Oracle E-Business Financials and Procurement, and Oracle PeopleSoft HCM and Payroll and migrating the on-premises data to relevant Oracle Fusion Cloud Services.
  • Experience with data transformation, data load testing, and related tools and technologies.
  • Experience in migrating master data and transactional data from On-Premise Oracle.
  • Experience utilizing Oracle and other industry-leading ETL tools and technologies to support large-scale ERP data migration efforts.
  • Experience with Data Migration activities for Master Data such as COA, Employees, Suppliers, Assets, etc., and Transactional and Historical data.
  • Experience with Oracle Data Migration and integration processes, including preparation of migration strategy, conversion plan, timing of data loads, object dependencies, and sequencing of tasks.
  • Experience using ADFdi, FBDI, ETL, SQL, and any third-party tools used for data migration.
  • Experience working with Oracle Financials, Procurement, Assets, Projects, Grants, HCM, and Time and Labor Cloud modules.
  • Experience in Education (K-12) ERP Oracle Fusion Cloud Implementation preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • E-Business and Oracle PeopleSoft to Oracle Fusion Cloud.
  • Expertise in Data Migration of Master data and transactional data, including Extraction, Cleansing, Transformation, Loading, and Validation from Legacy systems to Oracle Fusion Cloud.
  • Strong project management, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with large scale ERP program system integrators for timely completion of each phase.
  • Expertise in Payroll data conversion and reconciliation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully collaborate with functional and technical leads, business users, and SMEs.

Conditions of Employment
As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:
  • Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part-time positions, however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois.
