Role Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Equity Research Associate or Vice President, depending on experience, to join our growing research team in New York City. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain deep exposure to the FinTech ecosystem while contributing to the build-out of a differentiated research product in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
This role could allow for rapid expansion of responsibility, as the Associate/VP will work closely with the entire equity research team, the investment banking team, and FT Partners' leadership to generate high-quality, actionable research and support institutional investor engagement. This includes financial modeling, thematic analysis, industry forecasting, client interaction, and the mentoring of junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
Research & Analysis
  • Lead or support coverage of FinTech companies and industry subsectors.
  • Build and maintain robust financial models, including earnings forecasts, valuations (DCF, comps), and scenario planning.
  • Conduct in-depth company and sector research using public filings, proprietary data, and third-party sources.
  • Analyze market, competitive, and regulatory trends that influence investment outlooks.
  • Author high-quality research reports, investment recommendations, and thematic pieces.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Communicate investment ideas and research findings to institutional clients, internal stakeholders, and sales/trading teams.
  • Prepare and present materials for client meetings, industry events, roadshows, and conferences.
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for client inquiries and relationship management.

Team Leadership & Collaboration (VP-level focus)
  • Mentor, train, and review work from junior Research Analysts.
  • Work collaboratively across teams-including investment banking-for insights while maintaining research independence.
  • Help shape and refine FT Partners' equity research strategy and product suite.

Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is required.
  • MBA or CFA designation (or candidacy) is preferred, particularly for VP candidates.

Experience:
  • Associate Level: 2-4 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, consulting, or asset management.
  • VP Level: 5-8+ years of relevant experience with demonstrated leadership and sector expertise.

Technical Skills:
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling, accounting, and valuation methodologies.
  • Familiarity with industry data platforms and tools (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet, Capital IQ).

Soft Skills:
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, self-starter attitude.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance culture.
  • Strong interest in-and knowledge of-the FinTech ecosystem.

Licensing Requirements
  • SIE, Series 7, 63, 86, and 87 exams passed (or willingness to obtain them promptly upon hire).
