How does the role impact the organization?

The Equity Capital Markets division has a solid commitment to investment research, investment banking, and institutional sales and trading. The Research department consists of a team of analysts and associates covering approximately 250 companies. Equity Research Associates play a critical role assisting in all tasks required for the Equity Research Analyst to stay abreast of market events with the end-goal of providing sound investment judgement on particular stocks to clients. Individuals in this role are continuously learning and developing their investment analysis and securities evaluation skills in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment. We are looking for an exceptional candidate who has exemplary writing skills and is an excellent communicator.

What will your role be responsible for?

  • Work with analysts to conduct thorough analysis of the industries and targeted companies; and
  • Participate in due diligence requirements including interfacing with corporate executives, conducting site visits, analyzing industry and company data, developing and maintaining financial models, writing research, and verbal presentations to equity sales/trading personnel and institutional clients.

What do we expect from you?

To qualify for this opportunity you possess:

  • Fundamental knowledge of investment concepts, practices, and procedures used in the securities industry;
  • Experience applying accounting and finance principles;
  • Financial modelling knowledge;
  • The ability to work in a fast paced, high-volume environment while maintaining sharp attention to detail; 
  • Good organizational and prioritization skills;
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment; and
  • The willingness to work long hours when necessary to meet time-sensitive deadlines.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements

  • An undergraduate/postgraduate degree, preferably in Business: Finance or Accounting;
  • Completion of P.Geo is an asset; 
  • At least two years experience in equity research, corporate finance or relevant industry;
  • Completion of / on track to complete the CFA and/or CPA designations.

Salary Range: $95,000 - $105,000 annually, in addition to competitive performance bonuses/incentives.

Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, internal equity, and other job requirements.
