Arts and Sciences | Earth Sciences
Research Associate to join the Polar and Environmental Geochemistry team in the School of Earth Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences to perform basic research in aqueous geochemistry. Duties include analyzing environmental samples, processing data, uploading data files and metadata to appropriate data repositories, maintaining equipment, and assisting PI with preparing manuscripts for publication. Other responsibilities include collaborating with research staff members and overseeing undergraduate student assistants. The position requires a deployment to McMurdo Station, Antarctica for approximately 6-8 weeks each winter.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Earth science, analytical chemistry, environmental science, environmental engineering or equivalent experience required; 3 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree, or 1 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree. Ability to work on ion chromatography and colorimetric nutrient analysis equipment and knowledge of data processing computer programs required. Must be able to physically qualify for Antarctic fieldwork based on the United States Antarctic Program's qualification guidelines https://www.nsf.gov/geo/opp/soh/polar-physical-qualification/antarctic.
Desired Qualifications:
Master's degree in the areas listed above or related area and 3-5 years of research experience. Research interest in aqueous geochemistry is desired.

The pay range for this job profile is $51,500 - $67,250. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
