Job description

The Summer 2027 Equity internship role is an exciting opportunity to gain practical, hands-on equity research experience and career-building mentorship. The individual will work closely with a small team of investment professionals and portfolio managers who employ a bottom-up fundamental framework to assess a company's competitive advantages and are committed to a rigorous, results-oriented investment process.

Candidates should have a high degree of intellectual curiosity, excellent academic credentials, possess strong research, writing skills and effective communication skills and an interest in pursuing a career in equity investing post-graduation. Moreover, candidates should have a demonstrated ability to use primary and secondary data sources when researching investment opportunities.

The Bessemer Trust Internship Program:

Our summer internship program offers real world experience working side-by-side with experts from departments and offices across our firm. You will manage individual and group projects, interact with senior leaders, and attend a variety of career development sessions. You will also network with fellow interns in-person and virtually, as well as during our intern days held in our New York headquarters.

This 10-week program is designed to mimic the experience of a full-time employee, providing an opportunity to build subject matter expertise and enhance your career at Bessemer and beyond.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Dissecting and understanding companies, industries, and their value chains.
  • Developing and sharing investment insights and delivering research conclusions.
  • Building and maintaining financial models including forecasts and valuation-based screening capabilities.
  • Engaging with management teams, consultants, analysts, and industry experts.
  • Be a proactive team player, ready to assist in ad-hoc research projects.

Qualifications:

  • Actively Pursuing Bachelor's Degree (Expected graduation May 2028).
  • Excellent quantitative, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products to include Outlook, Power Point, Excel, and Word.
  • Proficiency using FactSet a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively on a small team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Software Development: Assist in the design, development, and testing of software applications. This includes coding, debugging, and collaborating with team members on software solutions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including business analysts, testers and business areas directly to understand requirements and deliver high-quality software.
  • Problem Solving: Analyze and troubleshoot software issues, identifying and implementing solutions in a timely manner.
  • Code Reviews: Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to best practices, and continuous learning.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C#, or JavaScript.
  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of software development principles, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
