job purpose:
The Engineering Project Manager will be a part of fairlife's Capital Engineering and Project Management team, primarily based out of the Webster, NY, plant. This individual will have ownership for the overall successful end-to-end project management of various capital projects, including but not limited to; processing & packaging equipment, safety improvements, and buildings & infrastructure. This role is accountable for design & budget ensuring installation, commissioning, validation, operation and maintenance of the projects to meet company standards. Additionally, this role assists in providing direction and guidance to Fairlife's manufacturing arena concerning all platforms of processing, packaging and infrastructure. The Project Manager will partner closely with the Plant Engineering and Operations teams to identify areas of improvement and execute solutions. Identify and implement strategic initiatives which are enablers for Fairlife to meet its present and future objectives in the areas of capital improvements.
responsibilities:
  • Ensure Projects meet plant compliance to Federal, State, and Corporate Safety, Quality & environmental laws, rules & regulations all times.
  • Lead the Design engineering of projects, partnering with cross functions, vendors, and assist in the development of capital plans for systems while providing recommendations for enhanced performance of the facility.
  • Plan, Own Budget & life cycle of projects directing, and coordinate activities concerning design, construction, modification and maintenance of the processing equipment and infrastructure/utilities and mechanical designs.
  • Partner with the Plant Engineering, Quality, Safety, Automation and Operations teams to troubleshoot problems and develop root cause and corrective actions.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for Project Management systems.

skills/qualifications required:
  • 5-10+ years of experience in manufacturing plants in the food and beverage industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to take charge and own successful project outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical cross functional teams.
  • Proven project management and process engineering experience.
  • Experience managing multiple complex capital projects, with individual projects up to $5mil.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Proficiency in English: Comfortable with both written and verbal communication, including reading and writing.

preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Processing and packaging experience, especially related to aseptic and dairy environments.
  • Demonstrable teamwork and maturity with a strong work ethic and leadership skills.
  • Positive and proactive attitude.
  • Strong understanding of system capabilities and provide solutions to successfully produce products within project deadlines and budget.
  • Ability to adjust project scope and design to meet changing business needs.
  • Strong negotiation skills required, with the drive to execute.
  • Strong controls & electrical experience preferred.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required.
