Equine Outside Sales Representative
Hatchet Hardware โ€“ Farm amp; Feed Division
Hatchet Hardware is growing our farm, feed, and equine business, and we are looking for an experienced Equine Outside Sales Representative to help us build strong relationships with horse owners, barns, trainers, farms, and local equine customers.
This is not just a store sales position. We are looking for someone who can get out into the community, understand customer needs, recommend the right feed and supplies, and help grow our equine business across the market.
Equine experience is required. A strong background in horse nutrition, feed sales, barn management, or the equine industry is highly preferred.
About the Role
The Equine Outside Sales Representative will call on horse owners, barns, farms, trainers, and lifestyle animal customers within our market area. This position will focus on consultative selling by learning each customerโ€™s feeding program, understanding their goals, and recommending feed, forage, supplements, bedding, and supplies that fit their needs.
You will help customers make informed decisions while growing sales for Hatchet Hardwareโ€™s farm and feed business.
Responsibilities
Grow Hatchet Hardwareโ€™s equine feed, bedding, forage, supplement, and farm supply business.
Develop new business with horse owners, barns, trainers, farms, and equine facilities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with local customers.
Visit customers in the field to understand their feeding programs and product needs.
Recommend feed and supply options based on customer goals and animal needs.
Work with store teams to support special orders, deliveries, and customer follow-up.
Help organize customer events, feed clinics, vendor training, and local equine promotions.
Represent Hatchet Hardware professionally in the local farm and equine community.
Provide excellent customer service and product knowledge.
Preferred Experience
Strong equine background required.
Horse nutrition or feed sales experience preferred.
Experience working with barns, farms, trainers, or lifestyle animal owners is a plus.
Knowledge of brands such as Purina, Nutrena, Triple Crown, Blue Seal, Tribute, ProElite, or similar feed lines is helpful.
Retail, outside sales, or customer relationship experience preferred.
Qualifications
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Ability to travel within the local market area.
