DESCRIPTION:
Working under general supervision, oversees one or more small to medium sized IT projects of low to moderate complexity. Assists in managing smaller aspects of larger programs. Responsible for assembling project team, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedules to ensure timely completion of project. Must be familiar with the system scope and project objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member in order to effectively coordinate the activities of the team. Assists in defining requirements and designing and implementing project modifications and development. Incumbent could possess highly specialized knowledge of a specific technology.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates and implements project definitions, schedules, budgets, and objectives for one or more small to medium sized projects. Prepares detailed statements of work and gains concurrence and approval from stakeholders regarding various project aspects and adjusts accordingly. Participates in delivery assurance reviews to ensure adherence to project management policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the staffing of projects. Organizes project team members to ensure communication and understanding of deadlines, assignments and objectives. Participates in work as applicable.
  • Manages costs, schedules and quality by overseeing project deliverables. Ensures schedule and budget are met.
  • Performs ongoing review of project status; identifies possible project risks. Recommends and implements risk mitigation solutions as approved and as appropriate
  • Interfaces with team members and stakeholders to manage changes to the project which may involve changes to technical requirements, business requirements and schedule.
  • Manages client, company and project team expectations for agreed upon project performance by obtaining, providing and monitoring project metrics.
  • Oversees assigned personnel for projects. Assigns work and provides direction with regard to timeliness and completion of project objectives. Addresses performance issues within prescribed guidelines. Provides performance input upon completion of project.
  • Manages written and verbal stakeholder communication on the project goals, scope, schedule, budget and project status.
  • Drives the project to make sure that the critical issues are identified, resolved or escalated to make sure that the project delivers successfully.
  • Capable of getting into technical or functional details of project, if need be, to understand and help resolve the issue.


Qualifications - External
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Bachelor's degree in business administration, information technology, engineering or related field preferred
  • 5 years of project management experience required; 3 years project management experience in a Healthcare setting preferred.
  • Experience/exposure to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), certification preferred.
  • Experience working with a project management methodology.
  • Experience working with delivery assurance principles and appropriate procedures relevant to area.
  • Experience working with techniques and approaches related to the architecture, development, integration, and deployment of project phases.
  • Experience in IT system implementations and/or system maintenance activities.
  • Knowledge and certification of ITIL methodology is preferred
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and work analytically in a problem-solving environment.
