Job description


The Epic Hyperspace Deployment Administrator is responsible for the design, build, deployment, maintenance, and support of Epic client environments across the health system. The role serves as the technical lead for Epic end-user device deployment strategies, including Hyperspace configuration, workstation management, virtual desktop integration, application packaging, and client updates. The position partners closely with Epic application teams, infrastructure teams, desktop support, cybersecurity, and operational leaders to ensure reliable and secure access to Epic applications across hospitals, clinics, and ancillary care settings. The Epic Hyperspace Deployment Administrator supports enterprise-wide Epic initiatives and optimization efforts by implementing standardized deployment practices, maintaining workstation compliance, and ensuring a consistent user experience across all care settings.
Responsibilities
  • Designs, configures, deploys, and maintains Epic Hyperspace client environments. Manages Hyperspace installation packages, workstation settings, and deployment configurations. Ensures Epic client environments comply with Epic Foundation System recommendations and organizational standards. Coordinates upgrades, patches, and client version deployments across all supported facilities. Troubleshoots and resolves Epic client-related performance, connectivity, and configuration issues.
  • Develops and maintains standardized Epic workstation deployment models. Collaborates with endpoint management teams to deploy Epic applications utilizing SCCM, MECM, Intune, or other enterprise deployment platforms. Supports Epic deployment activities for hospitals, physician practices, ambulatory clinics, and remote locations. Validates hardware compatibility and support workstation readiness assessments. Maintains deployment documentation, device specifications, and configuration standards.
  • Supports Epic deployment within Citrix, VMware Horizon, and other virtual desktop environments. Collaborates with infrastructure teams to optimize Epic workstation performance and reliability. Partners with network teams to troubleshoot Epic client access, session management, and connectivity issues. Assists with printer configuration, label printers, barcode scanners, and peripheral device integration.
  • Participates in Epic implementation, upgrade, expansion, and optimization projects. Supports integrated testing, workflow validation, and go-live preparations. Assist with planning and execution of Epic workstation deployment strategies for new facilities and acquisitions. Coordinates deployment timelines and readiness activities with clinical, operational, and technical teams. Participates in command center support during Epic go-lives and major system upgrades.
  • Ensures Epic endpoint deployments comply with cybersecurity, privacy, and regulatory requirements. Supports access controls, workstation hardening, and security patch management activities. Collaborates with security teams to address vulnerabilities affecting Epic client environments. Assists with audit requests and documentation associated with Epic access and deployment controls.
  • Monitors Epic deployment performance and identifies opportunities for improvement. Develops and maintains deployment procedures, support documentation, and training materials. Provides advanced technical support and escalation assistance for Epic workstation issues. Participates in after-hours support during upgrades, deployments, and critical system events. Maintains relationships with Epic representatives and technology vendors.
  • Assists in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization.
  • May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

As part of our selection process, candidates being considered for this position will be required to complete a Sphinx Assessment, which is used to evaluate job-related competencies and determine overall suitability for the role. Successful completion of the assessment is a required component of the hiring process.
This position also requires active participation in various phases of the Epic application lifecycle, including but not limited to implementation, go-live support, stabilization, optimization, and system upgrades. Candidates must be willing and able to accommodate the demands associated with these activities, which may include:
  • This position operates in a hybrid work environment and may require a minimum of 25% onsite presence to support operational and business needs.
  • Working additional hours outside of regularly scheduled business hours, including evenings and weekends, as project needs dictate.
  • Participating in on-site go-live and support activities across multiple organizational locations.
  • Traveling occasionally for Epic training, certification, project meetings, or other work-related purposes, including travel outside of the state.
  • Traveling between organizational facilities to provide operational, project, and end-user support.
    Candidates should be prepared to maintain flexibility in their schedules to support critical project milestones and organizational operational needs.

Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience supporting enterprise endpoint deployments, desktop systems administration, or healthcare technology environments, required.
  • 1 year of experience supporting Epic or large-scale enterprise applications, preferred.
  • 1 year of experience with endpoint management platforms such as SCCM, MECM, Intune, or similar deployment tools, preferred.
  • 1 year of experience supporting Citrix or virtual desktop infrastructure environments, preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in a healthcare organization, preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Related field, required OR four years of directly related experience may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree requirement.
