Position Summary

The Applications Analyst – Epic ASAP and Care Everywhere reports to the Assistant Manager, Epic Applications. This position is responsible for leading advanced support, troubleshooting, maintenance, build, testing, and optimization of Epic clinical applications, with a primary focus on Epic ASAP and Care Everywhere. The role partners with emergency department, clinical, operational, interoperability, information services, and Epic/vendor stakeholders to improve emergency care workflows, patient movement, clinical documentation, ordering, charging, care coordination, outside record exchange, and cross-application integration; ensure application reliability; and support safe, efficient patient care across the enterprise.

Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Maintain advanced knowledge of Epic ASAP and Care Everywhere functionality, including emergency department workflow design, interoperability workflows, application dependencies, integration points, and downstream impacts across the enterprise
  • Lead emergency department stakeholders, clinical and operational leaders, internal information services teams, interoperability teams, and Epic/vendor partners in developing ASAP and Care Everywhere enhancements, optimization initiatives, and workflow improvement projects
  • Oversee Epic ASAP and Care Everywhere application design, build, configuration, maintenance, and validation to ensure functionality aligns with emergency department operations, interoperability requirements, and end-user needs
  • Perform complex analysis, build, implementation, and optimization of Epic ASAP and Care Everywhere workflows to support emergency department tracking, triage, provider and nursing documentation, ordering, results review, patient movement, discharge, charging, external record exchange, and integrated clinical workflows
  • Meet regularly with emergency department staff, clinical leaders, operational leaders, interoperability partners, and administrative teams to evaluate ASAP and Care Everywhere workflow issues, resolve system concerns, and identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, safety, throughput, care coordination, and the end-user experience
  • Lead the development and execution of coordinated testing plans for Epic ASAP and Care Everywhere, including regression, unit, system, integrated, interface, mapped record, and user acceptance testing to ensure changes function as expected for end users and connected systems
  • Serve as a leading advocate for Epic ASAP and Care Everywhere users by translating emergency department, clinical, and interoperability needs into effective system solutions that improve patient care, workflow efficiency, record exchange, and user satisfaction
  • Provide mentorship for team members and assist with team member training, as needed
  • Ensure that programs and services meet accrediting standards for the Joint Commission, Quality, Promoting Interoperability, and other accrediting and governance programs
  • Ensure the safeguarding of protected health information
  • Maintain communication through various resources and tools
  • Monitor help desk software for new tickets and update and provide resolution for existing tickets
  • Lead Epic ASAP and Care Everywhere projects, enhancements, upgrades, optimization efforts, testing activities, and ongoing maintenance initiatives
  • Identify and lead opportunities to improve Epic-supported emergency department, interoperability, patient movement, care coordination, documentation, charging, and reporting workflows through system optimization, standardization, and process improvement
  • Adhere to all information services policies, procedures, and governance processes
  • Lead incident response and downtime procedures

Qualifications

  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree or clinical license, preferred.
  • Licensure and Certifications: N/A
  • Experience: Four to six years of clinical applications experience as an applications analyst supporting multiple modules/applications, with direct experience in Epic build, testing, implementation, troubleshooting, and optimization strongly preferred. Experience supporting Epic ASAP and/or Care Everywhere workflows is preferred, including emergency department tracking, triage, clinical documentation, provider workflows, ordering, results review, patient movement, discharge, charging, external record exchange, interoperability, interface testing, mapped record testing, reporting, and integrated clinical workflows. Strong understanding of clinical application dependencies, workflow impacts, testing methodologies, interoperability workflows, and coordination with technology, interface, data, reporting, operational, emergency department, and clinical teams is required.

Work Environment: This position will spend 90% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment and 10% of time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs.  This is role is considered a remote position with onsite presence as needed.
