SCOPE OF ROLE
Reporting to the Director, Facilities, the Environmental Service Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean work environment in assigned areas with a commitment to service excellence. The Environmental Service Technician is proactive in identifying and attending to needs in the assigned area, strong attention to detail and communicates well with others. Responsibilities may vary depending on location, site requirements and business needs.
HOW YOU'LL SUCCEED
  • Performs Environmental Services duties in an effective, efficient manner completing all steps in the 7 Step Cleaning Process.
  • Performs assigned duties according to quality standards to ensure a clean and comfortable environment for patients, visitors and staff.
  • Keeps cleaning cart, equipment and storage rooms clean and organized. All cleaning materials properly labeled.
  • Required to properly and safely use cleaning chemicals per manufacturer standards.
  • Cleans offices, patients'/residents' rooms, classrooms, common areas, restrooms, halls, food service areas and any other areas that may require attention.
  • Sweeps, mops, and vacuums hallways, stairs and office space.
  • Cleans light fixtures, ceilings and vents, walls, furniture, windows and window coverings.
  • Empties trash and garbage containers, may transport waste to outside trash containers including recyclables.
  • Replenishes supplies and materials.
  • Moves furniture and sets-up tables and chairs.
  • Notifies leaders concerning any need for any maintenance repairs.
  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
  • Applies all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work.

Requirements
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in janitorial cleaning in a commercial environment required.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communications skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • While hours of operation are generally standard, flexibility to work evenings/weekends and extended hours may be required.
  • Requires periods of sitting, standing, telephone, and computer work.
  • Hearing: adequate to hear clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
  • Speaking: adequate to speak to clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
  • Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
  • Physical effort required: occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds, unassisted.
  • Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens while performing job duties.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular workday.
  • Sufficient dexterity to operate a PC and other office equipment.
