Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Environmental Services Supervisor, you will help the EVS department maintain a consistently high level of environmental hygiene and aesthetics so they can provide a clean, safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Every day you will provide supervision of staff and oversee the daily operations of the department. You will be expected to ensure regulatory standards are met, practice financial stewardship, and collaborate with the management team.

To be successful in this role, you will train and develop a highly equipped and engaged team using evidence-based techniques, process metrics, and KPIs, while making sound business decisions that align with the hospital’s mission, vision, and values.

  • One-on-one training and development of EVS staff.
  • Supervises the necessary resources needed for the Environmental Services department under their control and makes recommendations to hiring, promoting and annual staff performance reviews.
  • Supervises a waste program that separates, packages and disposes of all waste according to all regulations.
  • Performs quality improvement initiatives under direction of EVS manager/director. Conducts rounding activities to ensure environmental hygiene in all areas assigned. Prepares necessary reporting to manager(s) and document results.
  • Conducts ES Survey required reports. E.G. Standard work audits, Direct Observations, Fluorescent Marker, Clean Trace ATP.
  • Prepares work and time schedules, under the direction of the Manager/Director, coordinating vacation and holiday time and reviewing daily adjustments in the work schedule.
Job Requirements

Required:

  • High School Graduate or GED in General Studies.
  • 3 years of experience in Environmental Services.
  • Experience with typical EVS equipment and machinery.


Preferred:

  • 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (CHEST).
