Job Title

Environmental Services Supervisor

Compensation

Salary Range: $33.15 - $45.88 / hour

The pay range above represents the lowest possible rate for the position and the highest possible rate. Factors that may be used to determine where newly hired employees will be placed in the pay range include the employee specific skills and qualifications, relevant years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most often, a newly hired employee will be placed below the midpoint of the range.

Responsibilities

The Environmental Services Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the Environmental Services department to ensure a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming healthcare environment for patients, visitors, physicians, and staff. This position coordinates departmental workflow, supervises Environmental Services personnel, monitors quality and productivity, assists with staffing and scheduling, provides training and coaching, and promotes compliance with departmental policies, infection prevention standards, and regulatory requirements. The Environmental Services Supervisor collaborates with Nursing, Engineering, and other departments to support efficient patient throughput, timely room turnover, and the effective operation of Environmental Services while fostering exceptional customer service and continuous process improvement.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Two (2) years of experience in Environmental Services, housekeeping, or a related field
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish

Preferred:

  • Associate's degree

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and coordinates the daily operations and workflow of the Environmental Services department.
  • Develops staff schedules, reviews departmental processes, and recommends improvements to enhance services provided to patients, visitors, and other departments.
  • Assists with evaluating staffing levels to support departmental operations and service needs.
  • Inspects, audits, and evaluates the work performed by Environmental Services staff to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Ensures Environmental Services staff appropriately utilize the Bed Tracking System. Collaborates with Nursing to support timely patient room turnover and completion of requested services. Provides training, coaching, and in-service education to staff as needed.
  • Communicates equipment maintenance and repair needs to the Engineering department.
  • Assists with Environmental Services duties as needed, including responding to floods and cleaning and disinfecting patient care areas.
  • Orders supplies necessary to support the daily operations of the Environmental Services department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises Environmental Services staff by providing daily direction, scheduling, training, coaching, performance feedback, and operational oversight to ensure quality standards, productivity, and departmental objectives are achieved.
