Position Overview

The Engineering Manager leads a team supporting two manufacturing sites in South Bend, IN, driving safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. This role focuses on continuous improvement, capital project execution, and developing engineering talent in a process safety environment, and partners cross‑functionally to optimize operations and implement scalable, data‑driven solutions.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop an engineering team, including coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Drive process improvement through Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies.
  • Identify and implement initiatives to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Manage capital projects ($2M-$4M annually), including scope, budget, scheduling, and execution.
  • Apply data analysis, automation, and technology to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to solve complex production challenges.
  • Lead structured change management initiatives to support adoption and sustain improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards, including Process Safety Management.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of engineering experience in chemical or process manufacturing environments.
  • 3+ years of people leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading process improvement initiatives with measurable outcomes.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification and experience managing capital projects in a regulated environment.
  • Experience with PLC systems (e.g., Rockwell), SAP, and standard engineering software tools.
  • Work authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
Preferred Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or PMP certification.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF, AS9100).
  • Experience with CMMS systems and advanced data analytics tools.

Pay is based on several factors including education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location. Salary for this role: $135,000-$160,000.
