Job Status: Full-Time / Hourly, non-exempt

Position Summary: Under the guidance of the Area Coordinator, the Team Leader is responsible for the daily activities of the assigned production departments. The Team Leader position is crucial to create a world class production environment and team member experience. The Team Leader will be focused on meeting the daily production goal while influencing a culture of safety, great housekeeping, teamwork, pace and building a beautiful, defect free home for our customers.
Some Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Enforce Clayton's safety culture by adhering to and enforcing the safety stop audit program.
  • Participate in Safety training meetings as requested for continuous education on new guidelines.
  • Conduct routine tool and equipment safety inspection as required.
  • Hold team members accountable that violate the company's safety policy.
  • Welcome new hires and provide real-time feedback on their progress while ensuring a great learning environment for them.
  • Participate in the hiring selection process.
  • Lead an effective daily huddle and utilize the Communication Center slides
  • Coach, correct and counsel team members.
  • Read and check off orders as each unit is built.
  • Conduct routine material inspections to avoid shortages and relay needed material list to AC.
  • Participate in Quality training opportunities as requested for continuous education.
  • Ensure clean department(s) before, during and after work using 5 min clean-ups. Do not leave until team has the area "Clayton Clean."
  • Support ISO14001 initiatives (recycling program)
  • Partner with TMX on team member initiatives.
  • Participate and complete all assigned tasks within the Clayton Leadership book club, TL Academy and TMX University leadership development programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • College degree A+.
  • 2+ years previous construction experience required.
  • Experience in manufactured housing is desired.
  • 2+ years prior successful and verifiable leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills at all levels
  • must be able to read, write and speak fluent English. Bilingual in Spanish, Ukrainian, or Vietnamese languages is a plus to support our diverse working environment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, as well as basic math skills
  • Must be meticulous and can multi-task effectively.
  • Ability to read and understand home building specifications desired.

  • Strong in servant leadership.
  • Demonstrated adherence to safety protocols.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and make sound decisions in a changing, fast-paced work environment.

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to lift, push, and carry up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Work may require stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, pushing, and / or pulling.
  • Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, and in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information with others.
  • Work environment is not temperature controlled and may result in exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Work primarily involves sitting / standing, up to 4 hours at a time.

Travel Requirements:
  • As Needed to offsite training.
