Job description

The ancestors of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation existed many centuries ago as a community of people...a Tribe living together, farming, hunting and fishing to survive.
Much has changed since that time. Today the Sycuan Tribe governs its Reservation, owns and operates a Casino and a Golf Resort, and owns a number of other business ventures in the San Diego Region.
One attribute that remains unchanged, however, is Sycuan's sense of community. Sycuan is more than just a business. Sycuan is a community of people working together toward a common goal. Whether you work in our state-of-the-art Casino, our beautiful Resort, or become a staff member in our Tribal Government division, you will be part of the Sycuan family.
Job Purpose:
Protects and serves residents, visitors, and employees on the Sycuan Reservation
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
(Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time)
  1. Protects tribal property, residents, visitors, and employees by regulating and monitoring vehicular and pedestrian traffic entering controlled access points on the reservation and trust properties. - 40%
  2. Monitors police department's communications by receiving and responding to emergency and non-emergency calls from the public and other allied agencies, processing and evaluating information received, dispatching appropriate personnel, recording pertinent information from the department's two-way radio communications system, and accessing and entering sensitive data on local, state, and national databases. - 40%
  3. Provides service by conducting security checks at tribal government, commercial, and residential buildings, escorting money and persons as needed, and distributing written communication between tribal departments. - 20%

Job Specifications:
Education and Experience:
Essential:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • California driver's license in good standing
  • California Penal Code 832 certification within 6 months of appointment
  • 21 years of age

Desirable:
  • Permit to carry a firearm in good standing

Skills and Knowledge:
Essential:
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, and make sound decisions during emergency situations
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and writing, in the English language
  • Ability to multi-task by coordinating simultaneous mental, manual, and visual activities
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with all levels of staff and the general public in routine as well as emergency situations
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure
