Turf & Plant Health Specialist

At Lawn Doctor of Savannah & Beaufort County, we're looking for knowledgeable, motivated professionals who want more than just a lawn care job. We're seeking individuals with education or experience in turfgrass management, horticulture, agronomy, plant sciences, landscaping, or related fields who enjoy diagnosing problems, building customer relationships, and improving outdoor environments.
This position combines hands-on field work, plant health diagnostics, customer consultation, and treatment planning. You'll serve as a trusted advisor to homeowners, helping them solve turf, tree, and shrub issues while developing customized treatment recommendations.
Depending on your experience, certifications, education, and industry knowledge, compensation is flexible and may exceed our standard technician pay structure.

What You'll Do
As a Turf & Plant Health Specialist, you will:
  • Diagnose lawn, tree, and shrub health issues
  • Identify turfgrass diseases, insect damage, nutrient deficiencies, and environmental stress factors
  • Develop customized treatment recommendations for customers
  • Apply professional lawn, tree, and shrub care treatments
  • Perform fertilization, weed control, insect control, fungicide applications, aeration, and Tree/Shrub services
  • Educate customers on proper cultural practices and long-term plant health strategies
  • Conduct property evaluations and consultations
  • Build strong customer relationships through regular communication and follow-up
  • Maintain accurate treatment records and service documentation
  • Assist with training and mentoring team members as your expertise grows
  • Operate equipment and service vehicles safely and professionally

Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a daily route
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly
  • Comfortable working outdoors year-round
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities
  • Professional appearance and customer-focused attitude

Preferred Education & Experience
Highly preferred:
  • Degree in Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, Agronomy, Plant Science, Landscape Management, Forestry, or related field

    • Arboriculture
    • Plant healthcare

Additional qualifications that are highly valued:
  • Experience identifying turfgrass diseases and insect activity
  • Knowledge of ornamental tree and shrub care
  • Familiarity with fertilizer, herbicide, fungicide, and insecticide programs
  • State pesticide applicator licensing
  • Turfgrass diagnostic experience
