JOB SUMMARY

Provide engineering analysis and technical support to ensure continuing reliable operations of the electric power grid in compliance with NERC standards and ERCOT market rules. Provide electrical engineering analysis and technical support for the planning and operation of the electric power system. Implement appropriate system modeling, develop tools and procedures to monitor and control the system, perform system studies, analyze simulated or actual operating results, develop solutions to current or future system issues, and appropriately report findings and recommendations.

JOB DUTIES
  • Understand and apply principles, theories, and concepts related to the engineering profession and ERCOT culture.

  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

  • Design and perform steady-state contingency analyses using power flow models (PowerWorld, PSSE, etc.) under the direction of a senior-level engineer and/or management.

  • Structure planning studies and sensitivity analyses to determine the need for transmission improvements and to evaluate proposed projects, including technical and financial analyses.

  • Assist, guide, and mentor lower-level engineers, as appropriate.

  • Assist in providing input and analyses on market rules issues related to transmission planning, as appropriate.

  • Assist in providing market simulation/forecasting and transmission planning analyses to support other ERCOT activities, as appropriate.

  • Impact is generally limited to specific assignments or projects.

EXPERIENCE
    • Engineer 2: Minimum 1 year of experience as a power system engineer or similar type role. Experience within the electric utility industry preferred.

    • Engineer 3: Minimum 3 years of experience as a power system engineer or similar type role. Experience within the electric utility industry preferred.

    • Senior Engineer: Minimum 5 years of job-related work experience in excess of degree requirements.

    EDUCATION
    • Bachelor's Degree: Electrical Engineering or related field, or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields (Required)

    CERTIFICATION
    • Professional Engineer (Preferred)

    WORK LOCATION:

    • This position is Hybrid. Employees will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at least 2-3 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management

    • On-site schedules are flexible or may be rotated based on business needs as determined by the Manager

    • Remote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence.

    • Employees may opt to work on-site more than required or 100% of the time

    $87,000 - $120,000
