Interpreters Needed in Maine Affordable Language Services Pay range $19.00/hr - $35.00/hr Services Onsite Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) Over the Phone Interpreting (OPI) Languages Needed Kinyarwanda - Northern Light, Maine Medical Portuguese Arabic Haitian Creole Acoli Lingala Spanish Swahili Vietnamese Somali Dari (Afghan Persian, Afghan Farsi) Chinese (Mandarin) Pashto Chinese (Cantonese) French Khmer Responsibilities Interpret between English and the applicable language. Accurately interpret between English and the target language. Maintain professionalism through attitude and interpreting services.

Follow the Interpreter Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. Qualifications Proficient in English and the applicable languages in both written and spoken forms. Proficient computer skills, including email, scheduling systems, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.

Advanced interpretation and communication skills. Reliable transportation for onsite appointments, and reliable phone, internet connection, and a quiet work environment for virtual appointments. Familiarity with interpreting modesโ€”simultaneous or consecutive, VRI, OPI, OSI.

Certified in interpreting or related field, BA in interpretation, translation, or related field (preferred). At least 1-2 years experience interpreting in a professional setting. Position Details Type: 1099 Independent Contract Hours โ€“ By appointment only; interpreters accept or decline appointments and create their own schedule.
