In this role you will serve as a senior expert in the Office of Advanced Manufacturing (OAM) at NIST, as a Technical Program Analyst.
- Delivering analytical, programmatic, and strategic support to major office initiatives.
- Utilizing expertise in advanced manufacturing systems and emerging technologies to evaluate complex technical programs and inform decision-making.
- Applying specialized technical knowledge to assess program effectiveness across complex domains, ensuring recommendations are grounded in both scientific rigor and practical manufacturing considerations.
- Leading and coordinating enterprise-level program oversight activities, including planning, monitoring, and evaluation of initiatives aligned with national advanced manufacturing and innovation priorities.
- Applying advanced data analytics and artificial intelligence tools to large, diverse data sets to assess program performance, identify trends, and generate new insights that inform leadership decisions.
- Connecting technical, program, and stakeholder perspectives by translating complex analysis into clear recommendations, supporting interagency coordination, and helping OAM optimize its portfolio of programs and investments to enhance U.S. manufacturing competitiveness.

QualificationsBasic Requirements:A. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
ORB. Combination of education and experience education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
IN ADDITION TO THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS 12 level (ZP-III at NIST). Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
- Coordinating advanced manufacturing programs, analyzing program data and performance metrics which guides recommendations for leadership
- Experience supporting initiatives involving advanced manufacturing technologies.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
