We approach problems with creativity and innovation. The Portland, OR office of Schnabel Engineering is seeking an Entry-Level (Staff) Engineer to join our growing practice. We are looking for a motivated candidate with an interest in developing both field and analytical skills, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong team.ย 

Job Responsibilities:ย 

  • Apply professional principles, complex numerical models, and innovative solutions to real-world problems as part of a team of engineers and scientists while under the supervision of senior engineering personnel.ย 
  • Assistย in the preparation of CAD drawings for contract documents and reports with input and guidance from senior engineersย in accordance withย internal drafting procedures and guidelines.ย 
  • Prepare complete plans and specifications to be part of construction documents.ย 
  • Develop engineering recommendations andย writeย technical reports.ย 
  • Perform design calculations for hydraulic structures including spillways, dam outlet works, diversion and check structures, measurement flumes, and other various raw water infrastructure.ย 
  • Perform inspections of dams and hydraulic structures.ย 
  • Collect data and measurements in the field.ย 

Required Skills/Experience:ย 

  • 0-2 years of relevant professional experienceย 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineeringย or related fieldย 
  • Proficiencyย with AutoCAD Civil3Dย 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skillsย ย 
  • Positive attitudeย ย 
  • Ability to multi-taskย ย 
  • Strong work ethic and a desire for continual self-improvementย ย 
  • Willingness and ability to perform field work and travel, including assignments that may last several months away from the officeย 

Preferred Skills/Experience:ย 

  • Prior internship or professional work in a related field (i.e.ย geotechnical engineering, construction, civil engineering, etc.)ย 
  • Masterโ€™s degreeย 
  • EIT certificationย

  • Mustย possessย a validย U.S.ย driverโ€™s license as driving is an essential function of the jobย

The compensation range for this position is betweenย $62,400ย to $86,000.ย Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors. Weย remainย committed to providing competitive andย equitableย compensation to all employees, regardless of their location.ย
