Entry level software sales roles often require strong communication skills and a basic understanding of technology. Networking and applying to entry-level positions or internships can also help you break into the field.

What is an Entry Level Software Sales job?

An Entry Level Software Sales job involves selling software products or services to businesses or individuals. In this role, you’ll typically handle lead generation, cold calling, and customer outreach to build relationships and drive sales. You’ll also collaborate with sales teams, learn about the company’s software offerings, and help prospects understand how the product can meet their needs. Strong communication, persistence, and a willingness to learn are key to success. This position often serves as a stepping stone to more advanced sales or account management roles.

Is SDR an entry level position?

Sales Development Representative (SDR) roles are typically considered entry-level positions in sales, often requiring little prior experience. They focus on lead generation, outreach, and qualifying prospects, making them accessible to recent graduates or those new to sales, with skills in communication and CRM tools being beneficial.

What does a typical day look like for someone in entry level software sales?

A typical day in entry level software sales often involves researching prospective clients, reaching out through calls or emails, setting up product demonstrations, and following up on leads. You'll spend time working with your sales team to strategize approaches, update client information in CRM systems, and participate in regular team meetings or trainings. Collaboration with engineers or product specialists is common to clarify technical details for clients. This role provides a dynamic, fast-paced environment where learning and adapting to new products and evolving customer needs are key to your success.

Can you make 300k a year in tech sales?

Entry level software sales roles typically do not reach $300,000 annually, as high earnings in tech sales usually come with several years of experience, a strong sales record, and often involve commission or bonus structures. Top-performing sales professionals in the industry can earn that level of income, but it is uncommon at the entry level without significant experience or a highly lucrative territory.
