Location: 880 Chambers Ln, Simi Valley, CA 93065
Company: JBS Auto Service
Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: $17–$25 per hour, based on experience

About JBS Auto Service

JBS Auto Service is an independent automotive repair shop specializing in light-duty diesel pickup truck repair and maintenance. About 80% of our workload is diesel pickups, including Ford Powerstroke, Chevrolet/GMC Duramax, and Dodge/Ram Cummins trucks.

We do not work on medium-duty or heavy-duty diesels, semis, buses, or over-the-road trucks. Our focus is on diesel pickup trucks and the customers who rely on them.

We are looking for an entry-level technician or apprentice who wants to build a career working on diesel pickups. Diesel experience is a plus, but it is not required. A genuine interest in diesel trucks, mechanical repair, and learning the trade is important.

Position Overview

This is a great opportunity for someone who is mechanically inclined, dependable, and interested in becoming a skilled diesel pickup technician. You will work alongside experienced technicians and learn the proper way to inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair light-duty diesel trucks.

This position is best suited for someone who is interested in trucks, diesel engines, and hands-on mechanical work.

If your main interest is performance cars or general automotive only, this may not be the right fit. If you are excited about learning Powerstroke, Duramax, and Cummins diesel pickups, we would like to meet you.

What You’ll Do

As an Entry-Level Diesel Technician / Apprentice, you will:

  • Assist experienced technicians with diesel pickup diagnostics and repairs.
  • Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, fuel filters, air filters, tire rotations, and fluid services.
  • Complete digital vehicle inspections accurately and thoroughly.
  • Learn basic diesel engine systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, electrical systems, emissions systems, and drivetrain components.
  • Use shop tools, scan tools, and diagnostic equipment under supervision.
  • Help with repair procedures on Powerstroke, Duramax, and Cummins diesel pickups.
  • Keep your work area clean, organized, and safe.
  • Follow shop procedures and safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate notes on work performed and parts used.
  • Communicate with technicians and service advisors regarding vehicle condition, recommendations, and repair progress.
  • Complete online and in-person training classes.
  • Work toward industry certifications.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A real interest in light-duty diesel pickup trucks.
  • A strong willingness to learn and take direction.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge or hands-on experience.
  • Good attention to detail and pride in doing quality work.
  • A dependable, team-oriented attitude.
  • Good communication skills.
  • A willingness to complete extensive training.
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Automotive school, diesel training, shop class, personal vehicle repair experience, farm/truck experience, or previous shop experience is a plus, but not required.

This Job May Be a Good Fit If You:
  • Enjoy working on trucks and want to learn diesel pickup repair.
  • Are interested in Powerstroke, Duramax, or Cummins trucks.
  • Want to build a long-term career as a technician.
  • Like hands-on work and solving mechanical problems.
  • Are dependable, coachable, and willing to start with the basics.
  • Understand that becoming a good technician takes time, effort, and training.
What We Offer
  • Competitive pay based on experience.
  • No weekends.
  • Retirement plan with employer match.
  • Health insurance — employer pays 50%.
  • Dental insurance — employer pays 50%.
  • Vision insurance — employer pays 50%.
  • Flexible spending account.
  • Health savings account.
  • Employer-paid life insurance.
  • Employer-paid AD&D insurance.
  • Employee assistance program.
  • Employee wellness benefits.
  • Vacation pay up to 3 weeks.
  • Holiday pay.
  • Sick pay.
  • Ongoing training and professional development.
  • Supportive team environment.
  • Employee discounts on services and parts.
  • Opportunities for advancement within the company.
