Who we are: Advanced Radiology Services is one of the largest physician-owned radiology practices in the country. Our growing practice includes 185 radiologists, 44 advanced practice providers, and 190 employees providing administrative support in our wholly owned subsidiary STARS. We provide services to more than 60 different sites across the state of Michigan.
What we are looking for: The Coding Specialist II is responsible for the coding research, investigation and analysis related to coding and billing performed both on site and with external coding partners. This position involves education and communication to physicians, STARS colleagues and vendors to ensure processes are in place for optimal code assignment and ultimately, reimbursement practices.
Responsibilities:
  • Code and audit diagnostic and interventional radiology reports and apply appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes.
  • Maintain pended document queues and ensure timely release of pended documents.
  • Identify and report common coding errors and trends.
  • Provide education to physicians, colleagues and vendors.
  • Research supportive documentation from patients' medical records to find clinical indications for radiology exams.
  • Correspond with physicians and vendors to resolve radiology exam coding issues.
  • Research denials.

Requirements
  • Associates degree and RCC/Coding certification preferred; expert ICD-10; CPT; and Anatomy *Interventional Radiology Coding experience a plus
  • Minimum of two years of medical billing and coding experience
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Demonstrated capability in maintaining strict confidentiality with patient information
  • Strong computer skills including billing/coding systems and intermediate Excel skills
