Job summary:
We are seeking an entry-level Claims Assistant to support the day-to-day handling of insurance claims involving minor injuries. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in the insurance industry, as no prior claims experience is required-we are willing to train the right candidate. In this role, you will gain exposure to claims processes, medical billing review, and insurance operations while working alongside experienced Claims Representatives and Examiners.
This role plays a key part in ensuring claims are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company guidelines. You will be responsible for handling lower-complexity "pay and close" claims, reviewing documentation, issuing payments, and assisting with administrative support. Candidates who are detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn will thrive in this environment.
If you are someone who enjoys problem-solving, communicating with others, and building foundational business skills, this position offers a strong entry point into a long-term insurance or claims career path.
Responsibilities:
  • Process lower-complexity claims, including minor injury and "pay and close" claims
  • Review claim forms and documentation to determine coverage and next steps
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date claim files, including reserves and supporting documentation
  • Review and process medical bills and claim-related expenses
  • Issue payments to claimants and healthcare providers
  • Escalate complex claims or those requiring further investigation to Claims Representatives or supervisors
  • Respond to phone inquiries and assist with billing-related questions or disputes
  • Support Claims Examiners with documentation, filing, and medical bill processing
  • Provide general administrative and clerical support to the claims team

Requirements:
  • Open to entry-level candidates; no prior claims experience required
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately review information
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Comfortable handling administrative tasks, data entry, and documentation
  • Ability to learn new systems, processes, and insurance concepts
  • Customer service, administrative, billing, or office support experience is helpful
  • Experience reviewing invoices, medical bills, or financial documents is beneficial

Education and licenses:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Post-secondary certificate from a college or technical school is helpful but not required

Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
