Position: Senior Accountant - Behavioral Health
Location: Remote

FocusPoint is partnering with a large, multiโ€‘facility acute care hospital system to identify a Senior Accountant supporting its Behavioral Health service line. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who has previously worked within acute care hospital accounting environments, understands the pace and rigor of healthcare financial operations, and can independently own a defined ledger portfolio with accuracy and accountability.

About the Role

The Senior Accountant will manage core accounting functions for a Behavioral Health service line, including journal entries, reconciliations, reporting, and operational support. The position requires strong analytical capability, comfort with highโ€‘volume data, and the ability to communicate effectively across departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own assigned Behavioral Health ledgers, including monthly journal entries, analyses, and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations with complete supporting documentation

  • Review and process Accounts Payable activity, including specialized request types

  • Prepare tax workpapers, cost report support, and audit documentation

  • Monitor shared inboxes and respond to internal and external inquiries promptly and professionally

  • Maintain daily reporting tools and operational accounting workflows

  • Safeguard confidential and proprietary information

  • Adhere to organizational policies, values, and code of conduct

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • 3โ€“7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years at the Senior Accountant level

  • Previous acute care hospital accounting experience required (systems, workflows, reporting structures, or serviceโ€‘line accounting)

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel

  • Ability to interpret financial data, analyze trends, and validate accuracy

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities

  • Experience with healthcare accounting, statistical reporting, or operational analysis is beneficial

Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA certification (active or inactive) preferred but not required

  • Familiarity with healthcare cost reporting, audit preparation, or largeโ€‘scale financial systems

Work Environment & Schedule
  • Mondayโ€“Friday, 8โ€‘hour days

  • Some weekend work required during monthโ€‘end close
